May 19th, the Plaza Mayor of Alzira

Yesterday, May 19th, at the Plaza Mayor of Alzira, the Norwegian chess genius Magnus Carlsen participated into a simul in front of more than a hundred players, among which many Grandmasters like the Spanish champion Francisco Vallejo and the president of the Spanish Federation Javier Ochoa.

Carlsen’s opponents were about his age and although he won all the 13 games, he commented that all of the young chess players were at a very good level and they have potential. Magnus, who is often called the “Mozart of chess”, implied that he enjoys partaking in simuls because they help promoting chess and encourage young players.
